Social Services
The Hispanic Committee of Virginia’s social workers provide comprehensive and individualized case management services to families and individuals so they may be assured an acceptable standard of living as they move towards self-sufficiency.
Services include:
- References to medical and dental services;
- Assistance in cases of emergency: food, clothes, rent and others;
- Orientation and help in cases of family domestic violence;
- Support in cases of crisis;
- Help completing forms such as: birth certificates, Medicaid/Medicare, Social Security,
school documents, change/correction of names and others;
- Financial advice with hospital bills; and
- Orientation and references to legal services.
Information and Referral
The Hispanic Committee of Virginia’s Information and Referral Services are designed to help Hispanic immigrants to the complex network of public and private services and resources in Northern Virginia. Specialists provide information about, and referrals to appropriate service providers (public and private) throughout Northern Virginia. The Hispanic Committee of Virginia maintains an up-to-date file of reliable Northern Virginia services and resources that includes name, location, and telephone number; contact person, services offered; language offered; fee structure; and eligibility requirements.
The Information and Referral Specialists are the first point of contact for new clients and are responsible for making the in-house appointments for all programs.
